1990 views   |   0   0   |   Last updated on Nov 10, 2020

Students may qualify for an exemption from all or part of placement testing in the following ways:
*Please note that all placement tests, including ACT and SAT, that were greater than 18 months old were expired, for placement purposes at Moraine Valley, on October 1st, 2020. The next expiration will be on February 1st, 2021. All placement tests that are greater than 18 months old between 10/01/2020 and 02/01/2021 will expire at that time. If your placements have expired, they can not be used for placement.
  • If the student previously earned college credit. The student must submit a college transcript or grade report showing a “C” or better in a college-level (101 or higher) English composition/rhetoric course and/or mathematics course.
  • An ACT score:
    • 19 or higher in English grants placement into COM-101: Composition I.
    • 19 or higher in Reading places students out of all Reading (RDG) courses.
    • 20 or higher in Math will exempt a student from Math Placements, however, placement may still be recommended depending on the math needed for student's program of interest
  • An SAT score:
    • 480 in Reading and Writing grants placement into COM-101: Composition I and bypasses all Reading (RDG) courses
    • 520 or higher in Math will exempt a student from Math Placements, however, placement may still be recommended depending on the math needed for student's program of interest
  • High School Transcripts
    • If a student graduated in Spring 2020 or later:
      • 3.0/4.0 unweighted GPA would place student into COM-101: Composition I, and bypasses all Reading (RDG) courses
      • 3.0/4.0 unweighted GPA with successful completion of 4th year math will exempt a student from Math Placements, however, placement may still be recommended depending on the math needed for student's program of interest

How do I obtain my transcripts from previous colleges?

1219 views   |   0   0   |   Last updated on Nov 10, 2020    Orientation

Contact all previous colleges you have attended and follow their process for obtaining transcripts. Typically, transcript services are held through a college's Records Office or Office of the Registrar.

If you are seeking transfer credit, you must submit an official transcript (must be an official transcript in an unopened envelope from your previous institution to be considered official) to the Records Office in S building, room 111 or electronically to transcripts@morainevalley.edu. Transcripts are generally evaluated within 72 hours excluding weekends. If you are delivering your transcript to campus, please contact the Records Office to confirm hours available at (708)974-5730.

MVCC can accept an unofficial/open copy of the transcript only for placement or prerequisite exemption purposes.
